New York City Marathon 2004

The marathon comes every year. This year, our friend Kristin ran in it, so I was able to get pictures of her and the group cheering her on, but also to get pictures of athletes running and to get some of my old experience back.

Belated 27th Birthday with Ali Davis

My friend Ali wanted to throw herself a birthday party; I was going to be out of town. I begged and wheedled, and soon I not only was going to her (postponed) birthday party, I was going to my birthday party too.

And it turned out to be the “Paul” name night at the bar.

When you have such close friends that you’d alienate them by not having a birthday party in their town, you must be Richard Gutman. Thus, after his birthday party in New York, he had to have one in Dallas.

Spring Break 2004 in St. Thomas

For this, the last spring break of my student career (and the last one, I think, until my kids are 8 or so...), Stacey and I went to St. Thomas, in the US Virgin Islands. We caught up with my friend Katie there, as well as Brittany's fiance, Jeff, who's clerking there. [We feel real sorry for him.]

LustFest VI - Don't Tell the Bar Examiners

Danny and I threw the third in our series of law-school-LustFests, a party that stemmed from a party friends of mine in college threw, and which I continued to throw upon moving to New York. Although a number of the people I know who attended have tired of having their full names used in connection with a party named anything to do with lust, I do believe that this year was one of the best installments yet, with well over a hundred positive RSVPs and a party that went from 9 until 2:15AM, all in one spot.

Open was once again kind enough to pour the drinks and spin the beats, and I seem to have lost my voice.

Big Apple Blogger Bash 2004

Paul Frankenstein put together a gathering of bloggers in New York. Although many of us were turned away at the door of the first bar, we managed to make it into Siberia, a nifty little joint in Hell's Kitchen, where we found very drunk people, each other, and a slew of graffiti.

New Year's Eve 2003-2004

For New Year's Eve, 2003, Stacey and I decided to have a number of friends over to my apartment for dinner and revelry. Our thought had been that in New York, New Year's is half as good for twice as much, and always much more hassle than it is worth. Therefore, having friends over and spending time with them made the most sense. Much fun was had, including some rather ridiculous conversations.

At any rate, these are the pictures.

Stacey's Third Annual Champagne Party

Every year, my girlfriend, Stacey, puts on a holiday party filled with champagne and desserts. This year, the highlights included chocolate- and butterscotch-chip cookies, Torrie's double chocolate cranberry cookies, and lots of good friends. The by-far winning moment of the evening had to be when a downstairs neighbor that didn't live under Stacey came up to complain.

Although there are no pictures of Gail's visit, there are pictures of the party.
